The options menu appears when you are in the DVD preview window.
The options menu allows you to tweak the settings using the Pocket DVD Wizard.
There is no need to change any of the settings as most changes will only slow the software down, but if you are in the hunt for the best quality, or have problems with the audio video sync, the options menu contains the solution.
Select Playback Language
Select the language for the main playback track. If you do not select this option, the default language will be used.
Select Subtitle Language
Select the language for sub titles added to the conversion. If you do not select this option, sub titles will not be added.
Select Output Filename
The software will automatically select a filename. You can override this by entering your own filename with this option.
For DVD content to play on a Pocket PC or Portable Media Center you should make sure the content ends in .wmv
For DVD content to play on a Windows CE device, the filename should end .mpg
Include Trailer Video
This option simply removes the trailer added by the Pocket DVD Wizard to the start of WMV format conversions. This is only available in the registered version of the Pocket DVD Wizard. This setting will be remembered between restarts, so you only need to turn it off once.
Include Trailer Audio
This option removes the audio track from the trailer added by the Pocket DVD Wizard to the start of WMV format conversions.
This setting will be remembered between restarts, so you only need to turn it off once.
Shutdown Windows on Completion
Selecting this option will force Windows to shutdown the PC on completion of the conversion.
This option should be used with care, and all applications will be closed, and any unsaved work will be lost. The Pocket DVD Wizard will warn you every time you use the option of the consequences! For data safety reasons this option will not be saved, it must be selected before each conversion.
Processor Priority
You can select the level of priority the Pocket DVD Wizard is given on your system. Selecting a high level will result in faster conversion times, but other applications running on your system will slow down. Selecting a lower level will allow you to work with other applications while converting.
DVD Conversion Quality
The options are 'Standard, High and Best'.
Standard is usually sufficient, and gives a good balance between quality and processing time. If you want a higher quality conversion, and do not mind how long it takes, selecting High and Best will improve quality, however the time taken to encode the content will also increase.
Output Aspect Ratio
If the DVD you are transferring has different formats on the disc, selecting one of the output aspect ratio options will select that format for the output.
Re-sync AV
Occasionally the audio and video streams on some DVDs can separate when they are converted. This is quite rare, so the option is defaulted to off to save encoding time, however if you have this problem, select this option to re-sync the audio and video.
Start / Stop Conversion....
This option allows you to set start and stop points for the conversion.
This is useful if you want to split the content, perhaps to fit it on a couple of memory cards at a higher quality level.
Test Settings
You can check and uncheck this option.
Placing a check by this option will force the Pocket DVD Wizard to convert just 1 minute of DVD Video, starting 5 minutes into the selected track so you can quickly see how the DVD video conversion looks on your device.
MPEG Calculation Mode
If you have an older processor without MMX, or one with the 3D Now technology built it, you can change this option to select the appropriate processor.
It is defaulted to MMX as most modern processors have MMX capability, and this setting is significantly faster than the standard processor option.
Show Global Input Settings
This option allows you to tweak the most technical aspects of the DVD conversion engine used by the Pocket DVD Wizard.
We recommend you do not select this option, unless you know the ins and outs of MPEG conversion. If you do select an option and the Pocket DVD does not work in the way you would like, click the 'Load defaults' option, then exit the window and restart the Pocket DVD Wizard to reset the settings to the standard, default settings.
Reset Default Settings
This option resets all the settings used by the Pocket DVD Wizard.
This option allows you to try different settings, then if they don't work out, put the Pocket DVD Wizard back to a 'just installed' state.
