Using ActiveSync to transfer the output file to your Pocket PC

You can use ActiveSync to transfer the file to your Pocket PC,  while your Pocket PC is connected to your PC.

ActiveSync has recently had a number of updates from Microsoft,  so it is worthwhile checking you have the latest version by visiting the Pocket PC area of the Microsoft website.  at the time of writing version 3.8 had just been released.

To use ActiveSync,  connect your Pocket PC and open the Active Sync software on your desktop pc.

Click the 'Explore' icon in the toolbar and a new window should open with your Pocket PC folders showing.

Depending on the model of Pocket PC you have,  the storage card may be located in a number of locations,  however for most simply:

1. Select 'My Pocket PC'

2. Select 'SD Card' (or the name of the storage device you want to use)

3. Drag the video file (dvdtrail.wmv if you have the trial version) to the new window to copy it to your Pocket PC.

For standard output it usually takes about 10% of the video length to transfer the file,  ie 100 minutes of video should take around 10 minutes.

If during the copy process Active Sync tries to convert the video file, select 'Tools' in the menu bar,  then 'Options'.  Select the 'Rules' tab in the next window,  and then 'Conversion Settings'.   In the next window remove the check mark from the option box to turn of the conversion option in ActiveSync as this is not required for the transfer of video file,  and will slow down the transfer significantly.
